Re-enactments & Re-writes

(May 2022 - Old Folks Ass)
Time to reap the ample vegetables of adventurous arts from Tāmaki Makaurau in an evening of music, film, dance and language.

An episodic arrangement of performances that bounce off one another like molecules in a liquid furnace. Each month a theme brings together a selection of experimental artists as a single collage. May is the time for re-enactments, returning to events and episodes that once defined us are re-interpreted with hindsight.
A lavish evening of new music, exploratory film, candid poetics, and terrestrial dance, featuring illustrious performers from Aotearoa.
Rosie Langabeer–composer, arranger and band leader, colours the room with organ and piano, Tessa Mitchell¬–actress and performer re-enacts language of the page, Andy Scott–short film re-enacting a domestic life in a single take, Ben Homes–new songs for old ailments,  Neil Feather-master musical inventor and machines of sound, Stephen Bain–conjures images in 2 and 3 dimensions.
